Travel To Nature – An Introduction
A travel to nature, as a variation of my island vacations and island getaways escapades, was on top of my agenda when I was in Cagayan de Oro City en route for a summer family vacation in a mountain view nature park and other sightseeing tourist attractions frequented by creationists in Cebu Island, Philippines. Hence, with our youngest kid in tow, I and my wife chose Iligan City as our jump-off point to Cebu City so we can have a side visit at the famous Timoga Springs as well as the Tinago Falls.
Travel To Nature – My Tinago Falls Escapade
We arrived at Iligan City at 9:00 in the morning and was told by a staff of the Cebu Ferries that the vessel would depart for Cebu at 4:00 pm. Hence, I and my wife had a quick huddle on where to go. Initially, we decided to have a quick swim at the Timoga Springs in Barangay Buru-on. Nevertheless, after peeping on the gates of the resort, the sight of huge crowd of summer revellers had changed our mind and made us decide to go straight to Tinago Falls. I was told by a passenger motorcycle (habal-habal) driver that Tinago falls is accessible thru both ends via Iligan City and Linamon, Lanao del Norte but he informed me that the latter is the easier route. Then, after buying food for the 4 of us including the driver in one of the chicken barbecue stalls on the roadside opposite Timoga Springs, we headed for our travel to nature straight to the town of Linamon. Upon reaching the town proper, the habal-habal slowed down as we approached a street corner on the left side of the national highway with a signage THIS WAY TO TINAGO FALLS, which we followed through towards a gravelled road heading uphill until we reached this place . . .
I was about to confront the driver on what he meant by easy route but preferred to just keep on slogging deeper onto the stairway taking care not to miss holding on to the concrete handrails. Then, I heard a gentle roaring sound coming from the foot of the ravine which stimulated my senses to go down further. The roaring had intensified and became more and more thundering as my excitement kept soaring high until I spotted this scenery…
After slogging a total of 437 steps downward, I was really mesmerized with the sight of the waterfalls with water spreading horizontally as it descends while remaining in contact with the bedrock unfurling before my eyes. . .
My travel to nature would not be complete without taking a close-up photograph of the mighty 5-drop Tinago waterfalls from both jurisdictions . . .
You might be thinking that I walked that far in taking those 2 pictures but no, I just crossed this bridge . . .
To satisfy my passion of taking pictures of nature, I aimed my camera lens at this lovely mini-waterfall . . .
Had it not been for a very tight schedule, we could have engaged into a languorous swim at the cool and azure waters of the Tinago Falls plunge pool. In fact, my youngest kid Edrian could not stop his tears as he was prodding me to allow him to have a quick dip. . .
As we were really short of time, I decided to take a souvenir shoot of my wife with the Tinago Falls . . .
We ended our travel to nature with a strenuous 437 step climb upstairs and only realized how useful this view deck-looking structures were. . .
Travel To Nature – Final Thoughts
I really harbor a deep affection with waterfalls. The thundering sound produced by the impact of the cascading waters dropping into the ravine is really sweet to my ears. The awe-inspiring feeling brought about by the view on the cascading waters rapidly dropping over a steep region is second to none. The mists that smack on my face really produces an exhilarating sensation deep inside me which is beyond compare. No wonder, I consider my travel to nature at Tinago Falls as a trip to heaven here on earth.
